We explored how probiotics affect ear infections in a study using twenty-four male Wistar rats. The rats were divided into groups to receive probiotics at different times related to induced ear effusion.
The results showed that the healing rate of ear effusions improved significantly with probiotics. Particularly, those that received probiotics both before and after the effusion showed a 100% healing rate. This suggests that probiotics may help reduce inflammation and support recovery in cases of otitis media with effusion.
Therefore, probiotics could serve as a helpful complementary treatment for individuals at risk of these ear infections.
We evaluated the effectiveness of the probiotic strain PS7 in preventing repeat ear infections, known as recurrent acute otitis media (rAOM), in children. In a trial involving 61 children, those who took the probiotic daily experienced a significant reduction in AOM episodes—an 84% decrease compared to the previous six months.
Our findings suggest that PS7 not only helps restore the middle ear microbiota but is also safe and effective in reducing ear infection frequency in young children.

Probiotics ineffective for ear infections
Treatment of acute otitis media with probiotics in otitis-prone children-a double-blind, placebo-controlled randomised study.
We explored whether probiotics could reduce ear infections in children prone to acute otitis media. In a robust study involving 309 children aged 10 months to 6 years, participants either took a daily probiotic or a placebo for 24 weeks.
Unfortunately, the results showed that probiotics did not significantly lower the rates of ear infections or the time they lasted. While there was a hint of fewer respiratory infections in the probiotic group, this needs more research to validate.
Overall, probiotics didn't deliver the hoped-for benefits regarding ear infections in these children.

I had a stubborn yeast infection for almost four months and tried numerous treatments without success. My doctor suggested long-term antifungal treatment, but I opted for probiotics instead. I discovered Femdophilus, which effectively rebalanced my vaginal flora. The relief was nearly immediate, and my condition significantly improved. I plan to continue taking these for the foreseeable future, for both balance and immunity.

Lactobacillus shows potential in CSOM
Protects Against Chronic Suppurative Otitis Media via Modulating RFTN1/ Lipid Raft /TLR4-Mediated Inflammation.
We aimed to explore how lactobacillus, a common probiotic, might help treat chronic suppurative otitis media (CSOM), a significant cause of hearing loss. Through a series of laboratory procedures including RNA sequencing and cellular tests, we looked at how lactobacillus could modulate inflammation in the ear.
While our findings indicated that lactobacillus has the potential to reduce inflammatory markers linked to CSOM, it’s important to note that the direct benefits on ear infection symptoms were not overwhelmingly significant.
Overall, we uncovered some insights into the mechanisms at play, hinting at a possible adjunct role of probiotics in ear health.

Supplement use improves ear conditions
The effects of oral supplements with Sambucus nigra, Zinc, Tyndallized Lactobacillus acidophilus (HA122), Arabinogalactans, vitamin D, vitamin E and vitamin C in otitis media with effusion in children: a randomized controlled trial.
We explored how a combination of immune-boosting supplements might help children with otitis media with effusion (OME). In a well-structured study involving 198 children, different groups received various treatment regimens over three months.
While results indicated these oral supplements improved middle ear conditions and enhanced immune responses, it’s important to note that the improvements were supportive, rather than a standalone solution. Our findings suggest these supplements could be a helpful addition to traditional treatment methods for recurrent ear infections in children.

Twenty years of cyclical infections are gone. I have suffered from recurring infections since my teens. I discovered this product and decided to try it. It works remarkably well, so much that I can honestly say it has changed my life and my marriage. I've spent vast amounts on treatments that failed. I have been using Femdophilus for over a year now, taking it only when I feel discomfort. In the beginning, I took it twice daily for six months.

Infection resolved
37 people found this helpful
I endured a year-long yeast infection from candida glabrata, resistant to most treatments. I tried everything to no avail until I started using these probiotics. I found that by combining them with Boric acid and careful maintenance, my infection finally cleared. It’s been two weeks without symptoms after diligent care, making this product a miracle for my ongoing struggle.
An ear infection, also known as otitis media, occurs when germs—such as bacteria or viruses—infect the middle ear, which is the space behind the eardrum. This condition can cause a variety of symptoms, including ear pain, difficulty hearing, fluid drainage from the ear, fever, and irritability in children. Ear infections are particularly common in children due to their shorter and more horizontal Eustachian tubes, which make it easier for pathogens to reach the middle ear. When the Eustachian tubes become swollen or blocked due to upper respiratory infections, allergies, or sinus infections, fluid can accumulate and lead to an infection.
Treatment typically depends on the severity and frequency of the infections. For mild cases, doctors may recommend observation, as many ear infections resolve on their own. In more severe cases, particularly when symptoms last longer than 48 hours, antibiotics may be prescribed. Pain relievers can also help manage discomfort. In cases of recurrent infections, additional interventions, such as the placement of ear tubes, might be considered. Proper hygiene and avoiding exposure to smoke can also reduce the risk of developing ear infections.
Lactobacillus is a genus of bacteria that plays a crucial role in the fermentation of various foods and is found naturally in the human gut. Known for their probiotic properties, strains of Lactobacillus are commonly utilized in the production of yogurt, sauerkraut, and other fermented products. They are characterized by their rod-shaped structure and ability to convert sugars into lactic acid, which not only helps preserve food but also contributes to the tangy flavor of fermented foods.
In addition to their culinary uses, Lactobacillus bacteria can offer several health benefits. They are known to support gut health by enhancing the balance of beneficial bacteria in the microbiome, potentially aiding in digestion and alleviating symptoms of issues like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS). Regular consumption of Lactobacillus-containing foods or supplements may also bolster the immune system and improve overall digestive health. With a growing interest in gut health, Lactobacillus remains a key player in both dietary and therapeutic contexts.
Lactobacillus, a type of beneficial bacteria, is primarily known for its role in gut health and the digestive system. While some studies suggest that probiotics, including strains of Lactobacillus, might have an impact on the immune system and could help prevent certain infections, their specific efficacy in treating or preventing ear infections is still under investigation. Research has shown that probiotics can support overall health and might reduce the incidence of respiratory infections in general, but evidence directly linking Lactobacillus to ear infection treatment remains limited.
It's crucial to consult with a healthcare professional when dealing with ear infections. Ear infections can vary in severity and can be caused by bacteria or viruses, thus requiring appropriate medical assessment and treatment. While probiotics may offer some benefits, they should not replace traditional medical treatments prescribed by a doctor, especially in cases where an ear infection may require antibiotics or other interventions.
Based on user reviews, the time it takes to see results from this supplement for ear infections can vary significantly. Some users report experiencing improvements almost immediately, with one review noting noticeable effects after just two doses in two days Read Review. Others, however, suggest a more gradual improvement, particularly for chronic issues. One reviewer mentioned that significant relief was experienced after a month of consistent use Read Review.
Many users emphasize the importance of patience, indicating that the supplements may take time to work as they align with your body's natural processes. One user reflected on their experience, stating that while they initially saw some relief shortly after starting, ongoing use has been key to maintaining improvements over time Read Review. Therefore, while some may see rapid effects, a longer timeframe of consistent use is often advised for the best outcomes.
The scientific research surrounding probiotics, particularly strains of Lactobacillus, suggests a promising yet nuanced role in the management of ear infections. For instance, studies indicate that Lactobacillus acidophilus exhibits antibacterial properties that may enhance the effectiveness of conventional antibiotics when faced with pathogens associated with ear infections [2]. Moreover, research points to probiotics potentially supporting the healing process in children with conditions like otitis media with effusion, indicating an improvement in healing rates when probiotics are administered [3].
However, while there is evidence to support the adjunct use of probiotics in certain cases, the benefits may not be uniformly significant or applicable to all individuals. For children frequently affected by acute otitis media, the impacts of probiotics appear variable, with some studies showing no substantial difference in infection rates [14]. Therefore, while Lactobacillus demonstrates potential in reducing the frequency and severity of ear infections, particularly when used alongside traditional treatments, further research is essential to refine its role in ear health management.
